Finally my dream to visit Rhone-Alpes region and to walk in the French Alpes came true! Here are a few details about the trip.
Day 1.
We decided
to stay in a hotel “Les Balcons d’Anaite” in les Houches, a village that is
located 10 min drive from Chamonix. It is a very peaceful place and less
expensive in terms of accommodation than its fashionable neighbor.

Unfortunately,
it was rainy outside but we were determined to discover the Alpes and rented
bikes for a day. Exciting journey started in the site de Balme.

In the
evening we decided to taste local cuisine in the restaurant “Crémerie du
Glacier d'Argentière” that you will never find without a GPS. They have a very
good choice of fondu, all sorts of ham and cheese and a tasty blueberry tart.
Day 2.
On the
second day we discovered another popular site for doing VTT: les Houches (10
min walk from our hotel).
After a day
full of sport activities, all we wished is to relax…in a SPA centre. What I
like about Chamonix is that you are at the crossroads of three countries, so
the choice of SPA is great! For a change we headed to Italy through the tunnel
of Mont Blanc. In 30 min we arrived in a very popular thermal spa complex Pré Saint Didier (termedipre.it/ru). What a great service and infrastructure! Highly recommended to visit! Just in case, if you wish to stay for a night there, there is a great hotel QC Terme Pré Saint Didier Spa and Resort that allows you to have free access to the SPA centre.

Welcome to Italy |
It is always sunny in Italy |
Just in
front of the centre, BWM organized a test drive

No to biking! We prefer hiking! That was our slogan. So, a walking trip to a famous Lac Blanc in the Alpes was scheduled for today.

Day 4.
So, it’s
time to go…Frankly, three days are not enough to discover this beautiful area.
I am sure we will be back!
See you
soon Chamonix!
